On generalizations of semiperfect and perfect rings

‎We call a ring $R$ right generalized semiperfect if every simple right $R$-module is an epimorphic image of a flat right $R$-module with small kernel‎, ‎that is‎, ‎every simple right $R$-module has a flat $B$-cover‎. ‎We give some properties of such rings along with examples‎. ‎We introduce flat strong covers as flat covers which are also flat $B$-covers and give characterizations of $A$-perfe...

Perfect Scalars on the Lattice

We perform renormalization group transformations to construct optimally local perfect lattice actions for free scalar fields of any mass. Their couplings decay exponentially. The spectrum is identical to the continuum spectrum, while thermodynamic quantities have tiny lattice artifacts. To make such actions applicable in simulations, we truncate the couplings to a unit hypercube and observe tha...

Perfect and Quasi-Perfect Lattice Actions

Perfect lattice actions are exiting with several respects: they provide new insight into conceptual questions of the lattice regularization, and quasi-perfect actions could enable a great leap forward in the non-perturbative solution of QCD. We try to transmit a flavor of them, also beyond the lattice community.

Lattice-Ordered Rings and Function Rings

Introduction: This paper treats the structure of those lattice-ordered rings which are subdirect sums of totally ordered rings—the f-rings of Birkhoff and Pierce [4]. Broadly, it splits into two parts, concerned respectively with identical equations and with ideal structure; but there is an important overlap at the beginning. D. G. Johnson has shown [9] that not every /-ring is unitable, i.e. e...

Perfect Rings for Which the Converse of Schur’s Lemma Holds

If M is a simple module over a ring R then, by the Schur’s lemma, the endomorphism ring of M is a division ring. However, the converse of this result does not hold in general, even when R is artinian. In this short note, we consider perfect rings for which the converse assertion is true, and we show that these rings are exactly the primary decomposable ones.
